English Forum - Polish language question

Temat postu: Polish language question
I can see online that my Kawulok and Legerski relatives still exist in Istebna, but I can't find anything about the name Jolowiczor. I realize that this is probably because at least one of the characters in the name isn't the English character that I'm using. Is anyone familiar with the name and the spellings/characters most likely to be correct so that I could search the internet for it? When they moved to the US ~100 years ago the government "assigned" them the name "Jolovich" so that it could be easily written and pronounced in English.

Looks like in the name Jolowiczor they changed Ł into L so it should be Jołowiczor,
google says nothing about it, but it suggested to write Jałowiczor and it looks like there
still are a few people in istebna with this surname. if You want me to search more accurate
please write the first name.

regards

Thank you very much, I'll do some searching using that spelling. Unfortunately I don't know a first name, I'll have to talk to my mother about it. We haven't had contact with them like we've had with the Kawuloks. I may have to change my language preference, it appears that the change made to the board to allow the selection of English as the default language has resulted in the Polish characters we've been talking about to be converted into other characters. I may have to change my default language to Polish at least for this conversation. :-)

One more question on this, I am not finding any information online anywhere in the world on this name. Are there online phone books or anything like that where I could find more information on people in Istebna with this last name?

Just got information that solved the mystery, there is an "a" instead of the "o". The name is actually "Jałowiczor". Thanks again for all the help.

Thank you for the link, I will look around on that site. Thank you for the offer of help, I believe that now that you have helped me determine the correct spelling of the name, I should be able to contact people within the family via email. When I search on the name I get large amounts of information now. I will ask questions in the future if I can not succeed at doing something from this distance. Thanks again...
