Car Related: Did all the maintenance on my Galant that I'd been putting off for a couple of years. Losing power at the track reminded me that I needed to do this. I found some air leaks and my open element air filter behind the fog light was very dirty. It's running better now, and I'm hoping to get back to the drag strip track before it closes for the year. I was hoping to go Wednesay, but it looks like the weather will be bad, maybe even snow. Saturday will be my last chance.

Poland Related: I've put together a basic website for the purpose of providing a place for the relatives of the people who immigrated from the Istebna area to the USA to communicate. I plan to add forums and a lot more content by the end of the year, but the basics are up. The architecture was "borrowed" from co.dsm.org, in case any of you have seen that. It it bilingual, and the address is at http://trojwies.us/. I have tried to communicate with the Polish company Wydawnictwo Naukowe PWN SA about using their translatica product on my server to automate translation of forum posts, but have not gotten any reply from them. Does anyone here happen to have a connection to anyone who works there that would make it easier for me to communicate with them?

Update to the update: In looking around some more, I figured out that I should try to talk to the people at http://poleng.pl about my Translatica questions, so I've also sent them a message.

Made it to the track on Saturday. After doing my overdue maintenance I did get some of the power back that I was missing, but before I could find out whether I'd gotten it all back I broke my rear differential. So, best of 12.9@105 on 2/3 91 octane and 1/3 E85.

I'm driving it around in FWD right now, which is always good for a laugh. I completely lost traction in third gear last night when the boost hit on dry pavement. It's hard to believe how much work the rear tires do until you're not using them.

Greetings to everyone else on the site. I haven't had time to come to the site much and haven't had time to read the Galant forum at all. I think about trying to get to Poland often, though. A friend of mine just picked up his new BMW 335 in Munich and drove around Europe for a couple of weeks before having it shipped to the USA. Unfortunately I was not able to go with him .

No, it's not the new M3, it's the new turbo 335. It's as fast as the last M3, though. I don't know exactly what the car costs, because he leased it. There are dealers in the USA willing to make very good deals on initial price of the vehicle, and when you lease the residual value (at the end of the lease) is a fixed percentage of the manufacturers suggested retail price (independent of the actual price agreed on), so the least payments can actually be quite low for that class of car right now. I believe that his lease payments will be less than 400 USD/month with very little money up front.

That is probably a temporary situation, I would expect the gap between purchase price and residual value to widen soon. I remember decades ago when the value of the USD was falling and Americans could buy Mercedes vehicles and actually sell them used a few years later at a higher price. That didn't last very long either.
